Marcus Both added to his impressive resume by claiming victory in the 2009 Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open. He triumphed by a stroke in the Asian Tour event after coming through from six shots behind at the start of the final day at Phokeethra Country Club in Siem Reap. The talented Australian, who boasts one of the finest swings on Tour, had been due a victory. A regular contender for titles, he finished third in The Asian Tour International in Thailand and Hero Honda Indian Open in 2009. His talent for the game was spotted early on and led to a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport from 1998 to 2002. He credited his time there for helping him quickly make the transition to the paid ranks. This was evident when he turned professional in 2003. That year he won the Sanya Open in China and claimed the Rookie of the Year title on the Asian Tour. Since then, Both has been one of the most consistent performers on the Asian Tour. Both played for the Australian amateur team in 2001 and 2002 and finished runner-up at the 2001 Australian Amateur Championship. |
