Singapore, 16 March 2010: Leading international golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert have teamed up with World Sport Group (WSG) to drive their expansion into the Asian market. Widely known and praised for their work on four out of the nine (British) Open Championship venues, Tom Mackenzie and Martin Ebert have also created 60 new projects in 16 countries during their architectural careers over the past 20 years. Their experience and expertise will bring a new level of quality to golf course design in the region and by tapping into WSG's vast network of contacts they are confident of making their mark. WSG is the most prominent event promoter of tournament golf in Asia-Pacific including the Barclays Singapore Open, the Hero Honda India Open, the Thailand Open, the Indonesia Open and the Australian Open. WSG also markets the 10-event Mercedes-Benz Tour. "As well as maintaining focus on our traditional markets, we have made a strategic decision to develop business in Asia. We have already made several encouraging trips to the region leading to us becoming involved with some exciting new projects," said Martin Ebert, Director, Mackenzie & Ebert. The company is responsible for extensive redesign work on Turnberry, Royal Lytham and St. Annes, Royal Troon and Royal St. George's in preparation for (British) Open Championships. In particular, they are admired for their policy of working with the natural contours of the landscape rather than overworking sites with extensive earth movement. They have also built up an impressive track record for producing courses that respect and enhance the environment. "World Sport Group is excited to be working with Mackenzie & Ebert – a company whose reputation precedes it. We have enjoyed great success in promoting and televising professional golf tournaments while also establishing a thriving player management division and so becoming involved in golf course design is an important addition to our portfolio," said Chris Jordan, Senior Vice President, Golf, World Sport Group. Mackenzie & Ebert will open an office in Singapore shortly and will be open to re-design projects or new golf course opportunities. Please visit www.mackenzieandebert.co.uk |
